“15 September 2012, Damo Suzuki Network is an open-ended tour in which a unique group of musicians is configured for each improvised performance. At Incubate festival in Tilburg, 13 musicians, each taking part with other acts as part of the festival line-up, are invited to participate. The musicians arrive in dribs during the afternoon and quietly set up. Just before the show we are assembled backstage and two instructions are given: that each of us pick a number from a bowl, entering the stage by the drawn sequence, and that we should play for quite a long time. There are two drummers, and we both draw number one, along with a flautist. Hardly a natural selection. After a while Damo enters the stage, and at intervals the other musicians join in.”
