Peter Maybury is an Irish multidisciplinary artist. His practice-based research encompasses works as an artist, graphic designer, filmmaker, publisher, writer, editor, curator, musician, and educator. He is a graduate of Central Saint Martins, London, and is a Doctoral Candidate at the Centre for Socially Engaged Practice-Based Research in TU Dublin. He lectures in Visual Communication at TU Dublin.


Peter has collaborated extensively with artists and institutions, editors and curators on more than 200 art and architecture publications. He was the only Irish designer to be interviewed for seminal graphic design magazine Emigre. Alongstanding collaborator with Tom dePaor, their Gall imprint has published 12 titles to date including Irlanda: of de Blacam and Meagher (2010), part of their co-curation of the Irish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, and together they have made numerous films and works for exhibition. Peter is author of Make Ready (2015), and co-author with dePaor of Of (2012), and Reservoir (2010). He was designer, contributing writer, and co-editor with Ciarán Nugent of Throw Away: Nightclub Flyers 1990–99 (2022). With Paul Clarke he co-edited and designed the eight volume Notations (2016), featuring work by dePaor, O’Donnell+Tuomey, and Grafton Architects. Peter’s music projects include Hard Sleeper, and Thread Pulls, with releases for labels including Emigré Music, Sub Rosa, Fällt, and Fort Evil Fruit, most recently Landfall (2022). His film work includes Landfall (2020), and On Being There (2022) which was originally made for the exhibition Tom dePaor i See Earth: Building and Ground, VISUAL, Carlow (2022), and this was selected for screenings at Rencontre International Paris/Berlin in Paris (2023) and Berlin (2024). The Fall (2025) with Tom dePaor and Ben Mullen was selected for the first Architecture Pavilion at the RHA Annual Exhibition 2025, and his film L’esprit de l’escalier (2025) was selected for Rencontre International Paris/Berlin 2025.

Publications overview

Peter has collaborated on over 150 individual artists publications, and more than 50 group show publications, for clients in Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg, UK, US, Italy and Canada. This work includes artist’s monographs, artist’s books, exhibition, wayfinding systems, collection and event specific publications (print and digital), and academic and critical content, and this work has been featured in key design publications including the seminal Emigre magazine.

Alongside this Peter founded the Gall Editions imprint with Tom dePaor. Gall Editions has published 12 titles to date.
